美国铸造协会牌号AFS45-55铬矿砂耐火材料是一种激冷材料,46%含量的天然铬矿砂(铬铁矿砂)是生产铬质引流砂的主要材料。铬质引流砂的主要成分是Cr2O3含量高于46%的天然铬铁矿砂。它在钢水静置时间超过100分钟后,仍可使开浇率保持在95%以上。
在连续铸造生产中,钢液的自动开浇率,也就是浇注速度非常重要。开浇率是指熔融金属钢液进入到模具中的体积速率。如果速度太慢,金属会在充满模具空腔前冷却并凝固。因此,提高连续铸造的自动开浇率显得尤为重要。而引流砂的质量又对开浇率有直接影响。
引流砂位于钢包保底与水口连接的空隙中,并填充至钢包底部。钢水冶炼初期,水口上方的引流砂接触钢水后迅速烧结形成组织钢水渗透的烧结层。水口下方的引流砂需要承受钢水的静压而不被破坏。开浇时引流砂未烧结的部分因自重作用下落,烧结层失去支撑破碎,使钢水流出,实现浇注。如果使用石英砂为主要原料的硅质引流砂,开浇时间超过1小时后,开浇率会明显下降。这是因为硅质引流砂的烧结层会逐渐加厚并难于破碎,钢水无法正常冲破并流出。
然而,随着钢铁生产企业炉外精炼和连铸工艺的广泛应用,开浇时间会延长至2小时以上,硅质引流砂无法满足保持开浇率的要求。铬质引流砂逐渐代替硅质引流砂。
